Getting Things With Nirvana [Done Private Beta invites 500!]

Getting Things Done or GTD, is a popular category of Web software applications. We covered a lot of GTD programs in the past and each has its advantages and disadvantages of bit. I run another call (Nirvana @ nirvanahq on Twitter) and write some of the things that makes this product unique and useful.

Before I begin, I should mention that Nirvana is currently in private beta. However, more Nirvana Christiane has kindly offered 500 beta invites to readers the chance!

Getting Things Done (GTD)

A brief summary of Getting Things Done is appropriate. GTD is a philosophy of productivity by David Allen, who basically says that in order to create to maximize their productivity, it is necessary, the spirit of the tasks at hand and concentrate on the task of empty aa time.

The GTD applications, dump the “brain” of everything on your mind, so you can rest assured that you will not forget something you can work on one project at a time. In today’s fast-paced, multitasking, many people in the world (including me) have found that it is a refreshing take on things, so that we are “things” is as effective as possible.

What is Nirvana?

We have covered a wide range of applications GTD, so I wanted to make Nirvana different focus, rather than a list of features, of which most applications compared with other tasks.

The only thing that distinguishes it from other applications GTD Nirvana strict compliance with the fundamental principles of things to do. Many applications I’ve seen have gone crazy and the end result is a mess overbloated, a manager of complex tasks. Toodledo, my go-to-apply to my task list and manage more and more, and it has its great for me. But I think Nirvana brilliance is its simplicity.
You can merge the work themselves or in projects. The entries are fairly simple task ahead, with the following options:

  • Planned for
  • Expiry date
  • Effort (Time)
  • Energy

Tasks and projects can be divided in areas such as home, work or school, allowing you to separate these areas and the use of Nirvana for each area of focus in his life.

Another important principle of GTD “are memories.” In a former office were those records that you are what you need on this day – 43 cases of them (12 months, 31 days). In Nirvana, this is done via e-mail reminders.
Every day, you remember it, or what tasks are planned for this day. This is useful to remember, bills and responsibilities, the expiration dates of their superiors have to pay. They are installed in the account settings where you can find a specific e-mail you used to be able to submit their work from anywhere.

Mobile

Many applications now have the iPhone and / or Android applications their Web offers complete and I think it is important to keep, what to do. I often have my best ideas when I am in the car and thought necessary to get my thoughts in my Task Manager.

Mobile Nirvana

Nirvana is no different. Instead of the way of implementation, “they have a mobile site that the weight was adjusted for your platform created. If this is on my iPhone, the Web using sensitive and feels like a native application that really impressed me. The transitions are intact and everything seems very fluid.
A native iPhone application is planned for the future and I would be willing to try.

Future

The future looks very promising for Nirvana. Nirvana is a new company based in Montreal and his team is very accessible if you have suggestions or questions, error function. They have a list of things that are active, includes an API, RSS and an improved import / export. A feature that I needed, and can even be an advantage is the lack of an organization or group management tasks. Some see this as an advantage, but if you work for a task manager of the group that would be better used in a different style search GTD.

    Thanks for great review.

I’m testing Nirvana and I like it a lot.
Talking about GTD methodology as is – these guys doing what I’m missing in lots of other apps. Can’t wait for iphone app for offline use. It’s essential for me.

Very similar could be http://www.doit.im – it’s just great. But the only thing I stopped using it – nobody cares about users. There is no any contact with developers team. Sad, cause the app looked promising with all the features: iphone, android apps; windows client, adobe air app, cloud app. Awesome…

Now I’m using Producteev. I like their interface (quite far from GTD) – it’s gorgeous. And support team has fantastic social media support.
